Following on from the success of our 2016 Carers Week Stiitch Appeal we invited all our avid knitters to “Get Knitting”again for Stiitch and his friends in 2017. Over 100 Stiitches have been knitted and Stiitch and his friends are continuing to raise money for carers and their families during Carers Week 2017.
We started off on Saturday 10 June when our volunteers distributed leaflets and raised £304.37 at our M & S bag pack at Metro Centre Gateshead. A huge thanks to them and to M & S!
Our staff were out in force on Thursday 15 June 2017 raising awareness within Gateshead Council. Thank you to The Mayor and Mayoress of Gateshead for coming along and supporting us on the day.
Read about our intrepid Young Carers Staff who will be stepping up and stepping out for Young Carers on Friday 16 July and walking to work and raising money for Young Carers.
On Friday 16 July, Lane Systems Ltd will be travelling around the Newcastle/Gateshead and Stockton area, bringing cakes to their clients in exchange for donations for Carers Trust Tyne and Wear. Hear what Lane Systems have to say below. Why not follow their example and raise some money for Carers Trust Tyne & Wear? “After the huge success of last year’s cake van we decided it was only right that we did it again. We have worked alongside Carers Trust Tyne & Wear for a number of years and we’re always happy to support the organisation when the opportunity arises.”
On Saturday 17 June our volunteers will be hosting a charity stall at Gibside Farmers Market between 10am -3pm. Why not come along and visit our stall where our volunteers will be selling some great products including our fabulous tea towels and cook books designed by our very own young carers! We will also be selling some lovely home made products including jams, lavender products and plants all of which have been made by our loyal band of volunteers. During the day, Stiitch and his army of knitted carers will be encouraging visitors to donate to our Stiitch Appeal. We will be supported by mhm productions on the day who will be in Beauty & the Beast costume. Why not have your photo taken with Beauty & the Beast or one of Stiitches knitted carers and tweet a supportive message to us so we can raise awareness about carers in Carers Week 2017?
