Bridge The Gap Service
This Short Breaks Programme gives young adults with learning disabilities the chance to experience exciting and fun activities, develop new skills and independence and the opportunity to spend time with their peers.
The long college holidays can be a difficult time for young people and their carers. Bridge the Gap has been designed with this in mind.
The sessions are aimed at young adults with learning disabilities aged between 18 and 25 years who need some structure during the summer break from school/college and for carers who need a break.
Bridge the Gap takes place every Monday and Friday for the duration of the summer holidays, 10am to 3:30pm. Transport can be arranged. There are a maximum 12 places offered at each session.
Our Carer Support Workers are trained to NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care. They support the person with care needs to access appropriate activities of their choice, following risk assessment, provide practical, personal and specialized care to support the people you care for, allowing you to have that much needed break. For your added security and peace of mind, all of our staff have been checked by the Disclosure and Barring system (DBS).
