Carers Trust Tyne and Wear is a Gateshead charity supporting carers who look after a family member. We provide domiciliary care that enables carers to have a break, specialist information and advice, access to funds for breaks and a service specifically for young carers. These children and young people help to care for parents, siblings and grandparents who have physical disabilities, a serious illness, learning or behavioural problems, mental ill health or an addiction. It can be extremely stressful and have a huge impact on young carers’ education, social life and health. We help young carers to overcome these problems through social activities, one-to-one support, counselling and support at school.
